Does Hemp Oil Contain CBD? What to Know Before You Buy

Does Hemp Oil Contain CBD | cbdforpurehealth.com

Let’s face it, there’s an epic amount of sketchy – and totally false – information online about CBD and CBD products. But the team here at Pure Botanical Wellness is dedicated to sifting through the misconceptions and bringing you the facts about CBD, hemp oil extract, and other products. So, does hemp oil contain CBD?

The answer is both yes and no. Here’s why.

The term “hemp oil” is a generic term that refers to any oil that comes from the hemp plant. The two most common types of hemp oil are hemp seed oil and hemp oil extract – and they’re very different even though they have similar names.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil is derived only from hemp seeds – which means it does not contain CBD .

CBD is found only in the stalks, stems, and flowers of cannabis plants, typically hemp plants where it exists more abundantly.

Since hemp seeds don’t contain CBD, then it’s apparent that hemp seed oil doesn’t either.

If you’re not specifically interested in CBD or pain relief but simply want a skincare oil high in antioxidants, amino acids, and omega fatty acids, then hemp seed oil is a suitable product.

Hemp Oil Extract (CBD Oil)

In contrast, hemp oil extract is derived directly from parts of the hemp plant known to have high levels of cannabidiol (CBD), such as the stalks, stems, and flowers.

Does hemp oil extract contain CBD? Yes, it does!

Why would you buy hemp extract oil (a.k.a. CBD oil)?

If you’re seeking anti-inflammatory benefits, a pain reliever, or relief from other ailments, then you’ll want a product that contains CBD.

Carefully read the product label to be sure you’re getting hemp oil extract and not hemp seed oil, if you want therapeutic benefits.

Are There Negative Effects of CBD?

In addition to asking the question, does hemp oil contain CBD, you might also want to know if it’s safe to use. Are there negative effects?

Most people tolerate CBD well and experience little to no side effects. But, in the interest of full disclosure, some people have reported dry mouth, reduced appetite, diarrhea, drowsiness, and fatigue.

However, if you’re taking other medications, specifically blood thinners, it’s best to ask your doctor about possible interactions. You should consult with your doctor before taking any new supplement, medication, or CBD product.

How CBD Works in the Body

Homeostasis. Even if you don’t know what the word means, I bet that just by looking at the word, it seems like a good thing. But just in case, that’s not enough, let’s evaluate it first.

Dictionary.com explains homeostasis as “the tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability, owning to the coordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or function” or ” a state of psychological equilibrium obtained when tension or a drive hs been reduced or eliminated.”

Now that does sound sublime, doesn’t it? Hold onto that thought for a moment.

Our bodies have an endocannabinoid system. This system regulates… well a whole heck of a lot in our bodies. You may not have heard of the endocannabinoid system. I certainly hadn’t heard of it until I started learning about CBD oil helps us. Rather than go into detail about the ECS, I’m just going to link over to an article (here) where you can really geek out on what it is. To keep it simple, CBD interacts with this endocannabinoid system in our bodies to bring the body into homeostasis.

And this is important, because the endocannabinoid system regulates so many different systems in our bodies and can affect mood, sleep, appetite, memory, inflammation, pain and many other issues. CBD oil helps to bring the body into homeostasis so if you’re struggling with axiety, studies suggest that CBD helps. Or, if you are struggling with insomnia, CBD may help. CBD oil (or hemp oil) may help with any of the systems that the endocannabinoid system affects.

I want to clarify here that I am not making any specific claims. But I do want to share with you what I have learned after reading mountains of articles on the topic of CBD and hearing from our customers and from taking CBD, myself. Many of our customers have reached out to us to let us know how much better they sleep at night since they have been taking CBD or how they feel less stressed.

Personally, I have noticed that my rosacea is much better since I have been taking CBD hemp oil regularly. Before, I struggled with bad breakouts due to the rosacea. Now, my face is clearer than it has been in a long time. But I haven’t found any articles that discuss the affects of CBD on rosacea. This is just one personal experience.

The fact is that no one can make claims about what health issues CBD cures or treats because not enough research has been done. And, the FDA hasn’t approved any claims for what CBD does. For decades, the government has tied the hands of society. Propaganda has been spread relentlessly to deter the use of CBD. What we know today is that CBD can have a positive affect on many health related issues and that everyone’s experience is different.

After all, isn’t having better overall brain/body health something that we all want? I know I do. We, at Pure Botanical Wellness, invite you to join us on this journey towards better sleep, better mood, less pain, and all the other benefits of hemp derived CBD oil. And we invite you to share you experiences with us.
